Each month in 2014, SGI is spotlighting a different aspect of driving safety. This month, they’re getting the word out about distracted driving. Distracted driving encompasses anything, not just cell phone use.

MAIDSTONE — The Maidstone campaign to collect donations for the Canadian National Institute of the Blind is reporting a record year for fundraising in 2014. A total of $5,108 was raised for the CNIB in Maidstone district during a fall canvass.

Calls for service may be down, but there were some troubling upward trends in the January crime statistics from Battlefords RCMP detachment. The overall calls for service were down for the month from 960 in January 2014 to 760 last month.
