TD Bank Group has announced one of its largest gifts to date in North Battleford with a $30,000 donation to Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation (BUH).

There were more water problems for the City of North Battleford last week - this time, a water main break in the north end. The break happened at 101st Street and 20th Avenue Friday afternoon, and the street was blocked to traffic.

Exciting, in lots of good ways and some bad, is what 2010 was in Saskatchewan and Humboldt. That sums up Humboldt MLA Donna Harpauer's comments about the past year when contacted by the Journal in December.

Another water treatment plant in North Battleford is to be shut down temporarily, though this time it was a planned shutdown. Water Treatment Plant No. 1 will be temporarily shut down for approximately two days, starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Terrible road conditions led to a number of vehicles heading into the ditch between Humboldt and Muenster on January 6, but only one required a response from Humboldt's emergency services. At about 4:30 p.m.

The City of North Battleford is once again gearing up for participation at this year's Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention later this month in Saskatoon. The convention, Jan. 30 to Feb.

A year after the Olympic Torch made its way through the Battlefords, a lasting legacy was unveiled at the North Battleford Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. An interactive "living legacy" commemorating the Torch Relay and the events of Jan.

As 2010 winds to a close, everyone looks back at the year to ponder what they've accomplished and looks ahead to plan for the new year.

North Battleford has an influx of new residents. Unfortunately, they have wings, feathers and claws and do not bother to pay any property taxes.

An alarming increase in false alarms had Fire Chief Larry Gabruch asking town council to consider a fee or fine for unwarranted responses. The Battleford Fire Department responded to 22 false alarms in 2010, compared to nine in 2009 and four in 2008.
