RM OF WILLOW CREEK — A grass fire which consumed 460,000 square metres of brush and field in the RM of Willow Creek is attributed to a vehicle heating up the grass causing it to ignite. Melfort Fire responded on April 29 at 2:40 p.m.

A man facing drug trafficking and weapons-related offences is seeking bail in Saskatoon Provincial Court. Rudi Betthel, 52, of Bjorkdale, had a show cause hearing on April 29 but the judge reserved his decision until May 7.

A man wanted by RCMP on violent offences was arrested and released on bail.

On Thursday April 29, Black Lake RCMP officers were alerted to a vehicle carrying a large quantity of alcohol passing through La Ronge heading toward Black Lake. The vehicle was located and stopped by RCMP.

Beginning May 4, eligibility in the provincial age-based immunization program will expand to include age 37+, and to age 18+ for the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.

Vaccines Reported An additional 7,154 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 450,823.

On Monday, May 3, Turtleford RCMP was advised of a theft of truck from a residence in Turtleford. The vehicle was taken during the evening of May 2. The vehicle is described as a 2011 Ford F150, quad cab, red in color.

Just after 1:30 p.m. on April 30, Big River and Spritwood RCMP responded to a complaint of a single vehicle rollover. On grid road 793, just west of Leoville, a vehicle was located near an abandoned railroad track, upside down and submerged in water.

Around 5:30 a.m. on May 1, Weyburn RCMP responded to a complaint of a single vehicle rollover seven miles East of Pangman along Highway 13. There was one occupant in the vehicle and he was deceased at the scene. He was a 29-year-old man of Ceylon.
