Those looking for something to do in Tisdale will have a one-stop place to chat to the town’s community’s recreational organizations.
The town’s community-wide registration night will be held Sept. 6 at the Tisdale RECplex.
“I think it’s a good opportunity to have all of the groups in one location in one particular evening,” said Leslie Thibault, Tisdale’s recreation and parks director. “I think it also gives the organizations a chance to showcase what they have to offer.”
Groups confirmed for the event include Tisdale Minor Hockey, Skate Tisdale, the Air Cadets, the Soccer Club, the Girl Guides and the Golburn Gallopers Light Horse 4-H Club.
While some of the larger organizations use online registration system, they will be at the event to chat about what they do and give help for those having problems registering.
Thibault said the night was great for newcomers to town trying to find ways to occupy their time.
“We get lots of phone calls asking: this is the age of child I have, these are their interests, what does your community have to offer? This shows people what there is that’s offered.”
It’s not just for children’s activities. Adult-focused organizations like the two Tisdale Kin Clubs will also attend the evening.
“We encourage people to come out and see what else is out there,” Thibault said.
The registration night will be in the RECplex Auditorium Sept. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Porcupine Plain is also having a registration night Sept. 7, at Quilly’s Community Place Gym from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
