An anonymous donation of $80,000 has been used to covere 100 per cent of the cost of the purchase of a new handi-bus. It replaces a 2001 bus that was sold for $7,000.

The City is undergoing a GST tax audit by Canada Revenue Agency for GST received and remitted between Jan. 1, 2010 through March 31, 2012. The City has been co-operating and all requested documentation has been provided to CRA. At Monday's meeting, Director of Finance Matthew Hartney explained the audit likely has to do with a larger reimbursement in GST because of the CUPlex project.

Correspondence from Sheri Woolridge of the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club and a memorandum from City Manager Jim Toye addressed the request for financial support toward construction of their new facility. Toye states the request for $150,000 over 15 years will be considered in 2013 budget deliberations.

No decision on the request was made at Monday's meeting, with council voting only to receive the correspondence.

A draft agreement on demolition of the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre is now complete. The property has been sold to Caleb Group for construction of a 94-unit senior condo. The mayor and city clerk have been authorized to execute the demolition agreement with Caleb Construction Ltd., with the resolution passing by a 5-1 margin. Only Councillor Trent Houk was opposed.

Councillor Ray Fox congratulated Mayor Ian Hamilton on being acclaimed as mayor following the close of nominations last week. He also extended his congratulations to the new Battleford mayor, Derek Mahon, who was also acclaimed last week.

The next council meeting Oct. 15 will be the last one before municipal voters go to the polls in the Oct. 24 municipal election.
