Access to flu vaccine expanded

Access to the flu vaccine by residents of Prairie North Health Region has been expanded to include all people between the ages of two and 59, which the age range for which FluMist nasal vaccine is licensed.

Access to the flu vaccine by residents of Prairie North Health Region has been expanded to include all people between the ages of two and 59, which the age range for which FluMist nasal vaccine is licensed.

Injectable vaccine is offered to infants age six months to two years of age, pregnant women, and persons with compromised immune systems. FluMist is not used for these groups, according to PNHR.

Prairie North has scheduled additional flu clinics in January in Meadow Lake, North Battleford and Lloydminster.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be immunized to protect themselves and others from illness due to influenza, PNHR states.

Drop-in flu clinics have been scheduled for: Jan. 23 in Meadow Lake.; Jan. 24 in Lloydminster and North Battleford; Jan. 27 in North Battleford; and Jan. 29 in Lloydminster.

Prairie North Health Region says it continues to monitor its vaccine supplies and may schedule additional immunization clinics as demand and vaccine supplies warrant.
