Caleb Village first annual pig roast was celebrated on July 15, in conjunction with our Hawaiian Day
Our residence was decorated to evoke images of Hawaii – sandy beaches, warm blue water and palm trees. An open house in the afternoon was followed by refreshments on the patio, as the ‘pig’ rotated on a spit over coals nearby.
A delicious supper prepared by Chef Dexter and his staff preceded games and a movie, Hawaiian Wedding with Bing Crosby. Theresa Bossaer was the winner of a draw for two complimentary dinners at Caleb Village.
The Caleb entry into this year’s Battleford parade was driven by ‘Shoe’ Ralph Shumacher accompanied by Heinz Stolle, George Lindeman and Jack Alm. This parade is always a good time, with so many enthusiastic parade–goers!
Every month the Alzheimer’s Support Group meets at Caleb Village. This is an opportunity to ask questions plus learn more about Alzheimer’s and how families are coping with the disease. In the fall, we will be supporting the Alzheimer’s Coffee Break program, so drop in for a cup of coffee and support the Alzheimer’s Association.
Caleb residents have been enjoying the trails in Centennial Park, as most residents go for a walk at least once a day. The warm weather and absence of mosquitoes have been a real incentive to spend as much time outside as possible.
The Caleb planters are in full bloom with flowers and vegetables. In addition to their garden plots, several residents are care-taking the plants and trees surrounding the building.
On Wednesday, Aug. 12, we will be hosting a Talent Night, featuring residents, staff and their families. This entertaining evening will start at 7 p.m. As always, guests are welcome to join us.
In the fall, Caleb Village becomes two years old. With over 90 residents, we are also getting to know more people in the community – families and friends of our residents, plus others who have joined us for tours, social activities and open houses. We will be hosting a Second Anniversary Party and Resident Appreciation Day on Sept. 19 with a roast beef supper followed by a dance. Sunday, September 20 we will have an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring anniversary cake and champagne.
Enjoy your summer everyone!
