The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce had another year of success with their 2016 Humboldt Fall Business Showcase & Trade show on Nov. 5-6.

Around 1990 people came through the front door with another third estimated to come through the side doors.

Around 80 vendors set up on the ice service this year with all commercial and non-profit organizations to home based businesses set in one place.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Crystal Young, says that vendors have told her that being in the arena together has been a great thing.

“We have our commercials and our not for profit club front. We have a good flow of traffic that comes through those agencies to the home based. It allows them to go around courting from one vendor to the next.”

Not only did all vendors get to network with potential customers but they also got to network with each other with the Tradeshow being one of the biggest networking events the Chamber puts on, says Young.

The show also had a wide variety of businesses with the types of vendors ranging from the City of Humboldt booth, to home renovation businesses, insurance, and travel agencies to home based naturopaths, gift giving and jewellery vendors.

“It’s just a little bit of something for everyone,” says Young.

The location of the businesses also varied with businesses coming from Saskatoon and other places in Saskatchewan to test the waters and see what is up in the Humboldt business community.

It shows that Humboldt is doing something right, says Young.

“We’re bringing businesses together with potential clients and current clients and providing a cadre of ideas and services and product. We think this has been a success.”

Especially when it comes to supporting local businesses, it is all about teamwork to be a success, says Young.

“We have a market and if we work together we can supply to that market so that market doesn’t have to look somewhere else for those things.”

Local businesses are also the clients of other local businesses so supporting each other is a two way street.

Showing that local businesses are meeting those demands is a big show of confidence for clients and residents, says Young.

Young would like to thank Tim Hortons for providing breakfast and Sobeys for providing food for the vendors. Sylvan Learning Centre was also in the kids area. Young would also like to thank the Bolt FM and the Humboldt Journal for providing media coverage.
