Investigators are fairly certain the fire that scorched through the LeRoy Memorial Arena was not arson."There's a greater than 50 per cent chance the source of this fire was electrical," said Humboldt fire chief Mike Kwasnica, who was part of the investigation that took place on Monday.Kwasnica said it's most likely the fire originated near the ice surface, close to the penalty box. However, it'll take a little while longer before a detailed explanation is given. The official report, said Kwasnica, may take around two weeks to come in. The arena burned to the ground on the evening of May 10, with firefighters and EMS workers from neighbouring communities on the scene. No one was injured in the event but needless to say, the town of LeRoy is feeling a tremendous void. A news release on the town's official website said that the arena was "the heart of the community."LeRoy Mayor Brian Thoen said on Monday that he had no idea how long it'd take to rebuild the arena, which would cost approximately $5.5 million. One of LeRoy's volunteer firefighters, Morris Hartman, said on Monday that the town of Watson has offered up their arena to LeRoy's winter organizations in the meantime.
