Brian Grest, a board member with the organization, said he was looking through some documents back in May and saw the anniversary was coming up.
“Our actual 10th anniversary date was back in June where there were still some restrictions, so we postponed that a little bit to August, when we felt a little more comfortable about having a bigger event,” he said.
“It was a no-brainer to say, hey, we should do a show for our 10th anniversary.”
The concert, to be held on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.. includes six acts that will play two songs each.
“Well, what we're doing is it's more of an acoustic type show, and it's all local artists,” he said, adding they’ll mostly be playing adult contemporary music.
“We sure hope people come out, take in the local talent and also support the local artists.”
Great added that attendees should bring their own chair.
According to a story by the Humboldt Journal covering the founding of the organization, Arts Humboldt was created as a collective voice for the local arts community.
Grest said it’s been a great decade. The organization has organized events like concerts, the music contest Sound Cheque and the Missoula Children’s Theatre.
“It doesn’t feel like 10 years, that’s for sure. The time really flew by, but, boy, wouldn’t change anything, that’s for sure.”
With fewer health restrictions, Arts Humboldt is now working on more events for the future.
“We do have some pokers in the fire, but nothing firm yet,” Grest said. “Now that the restrictions are lifted, we're definitely looking forward to doing more things.”
