Sutherland Theatre, built in the 1970s as part of a partnership between the Town of Humboldt and Humboldt Collegiate Institute, was torn down on September 20. The Journal was able to get inside the theatre the morning of September 19 to grab a few last photos of the space before the machines came in and began to take it apart around 2 p.m. on September 20. Demolition of the theatre, which was connected to the old HCI building, is part of the plan of Horizon School Division to construct a new Humboldt Public School out of parts of the old high school, and new additions.
