Volunteering is important to the Battlefords and area, and a recent Saskatchewan Health Authority event showed its appreciation.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority hosted a volunteer appreciation event at Lawrence Hall in the Dekker Centre. The theme was “A Million Dreams,” and took place as a celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week.

The event began with greetings from Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie and North Battleford Deputy Mayor Len Taylor. MLA Herb Cox sent a congratulatory letter.

Alexis Christensen, communications manager at Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs, gave a presentation about the benefits of volunteering. Topics included how volunteering can go unrecognized, and to Christensen, volunteering can “cast a light in a dark place to improve situations and make things better.”

Musical performers included Rylee Hellofs and Bobbi Kanz, and number of attendees won prizes.
