Battlefords RCMP responded to over 60 calls for service between 6 a.m. Saturday, May 2 and a.m. Sunday, May 3, including:
Saturday
- Report of an attempted break and enter to a business on the 100 block of 23rd Street in Battleford, reported at 9 a.m., believed to have occurred sometime over the previous 12 hours or so.
- Call received at 3:01 p.m. of an assault at a residence on Borden Crescent. The suspect in the matter is alleged to have assaulted the caller before fleeing from area. No injuries were reported and charge of assault is pending against a 27-year-old woman from Lloydminster.
- North Battleford Fire and Police attended to a house fire on the 900 block of 106th Street called in at 6:40 p.m. The home sustained significant damage and the fire was quickly contained. No one was in the home at the time emergency personnel arrived at the scene. The fire appears to have been deliberately set and charges are currently pending against a adult female suspect. The investigation is still ongoing.
Sunday
- Call at 12:54 a.m. of a possible attempted break and enter to a residence on the 1400 block of 109th Street. Complaint reported someone attempting to open the door before fleeing area on foot.
- A 22-year-old man is facing charges of uttering threats and resisting arrest after a vehicle stop on the 1400 block of 112th Street at 2:45 a.m. The intoxicated man, a passenger in the vehicle, attempted to run from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle also yielded bear spray, which was seized by the investigating members. Matter remains under investigation.
- Call at 2:57 a.m. of a male with long hair and wearing a hoodie trying to break into a vehicle on 18th Street in Battleford. The same suspect was also noted a short time later acting suspiciously a block away. No vehicle was entered or damaged. The suspect was not located.
- 911 call to a residence on Bennett Crescent at 3:45 a.m. reporting an assault. A 29-year-old man was arrested on scene and is facing a charge of assault.
- At 3:59 a.m, RCMP received a report of a window to a residence on the 1300 block of 107th Street broken out. No suspects seen or heard.
- Report of an assault made at 5 a.m. in the area of the 1400 block of 114th Street. The victim was assaulted after a confrontation with two suspects in the area. One suspect was reported to have been wearing a mask with a moustache painted on it. Investigation is still ongoing.
RCMP also report two people were arrested for alcohol related offences, police responded to two false or nuisance 911 calls, three alarms, one Mental Health Act matter, 10 disturbance complaints, one Child Welfare Act complaint, two bylaw matters and one minor collision and investigated eight traffic files.
