B'fords dog team assists in search

North Battleford Police Dog Services unit assisted Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP with a search for a 38-year-old Prince Albert Woman on the weekend. The woman was located at about 2:20 p.m. Monday after being missing in the bush since Thursday, Sept. 5.

North Battleford Police Dog Services unit assisted Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP with a search for a 38-year-old Prince Albert Woman on the weekend.

The woman was located at about 2:20 p.m. Monday after being missing in the bush since Thursday, Sept. 5.

The days long search began in earnest Sunday when the woman's vehicle was located at about 7:30 p.m. 14 kilometres south of Weirdale.

Members of the two detachments swarmed the area and police say they were out all night looking for the missing woman. Monday morning Civil Air Search and Rescue from Prince Albert, the RCMP Search and Rescue Team and the North Battleford Dog Services Unit arrived on the scene. Searchers were also assisted by a traffic reconstructionist from Saskatoon RCMP.

The woman was located in a heavily wooded area approximately three kilometres from where her vehicle was located, according to RCMP. They say she is suffering the effects of being out in the woods for the last four days, includingexposure, dehydration and some cuts due to being in a heavily wooded area. She was responsive when found and wastransported to the search command post andthen to Prince Albert Hospital, police report.

Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP thank all assisting agencies for their help in locating this missing woman.
