Discussions have commenced at North Battleford City Hall on a possible business improvement district bylaw.

The first step is public hearings, with two hearings set to hear public representations on the issue. The first of those was held at Monday's council meeting.

At that meeting two downtown business representatives, including Derek Schmidt of the downtown BID committee , expressed support for the idea while another expressed some reservations, saying he needed more information.

Councillor Cathy Richardson spoke in favour of the BID. However, no final decisions were made at Monday's meeting on either bylaw or on how the BID would be funded.

The second public hearing on the BID bylaw is to be held at the March 25 council meeting.
