Humboldt restaurant Big Lou's Family Dining was broken into on the night of Jan. 23-24 and, according to owner Carrie Dosch, any search for the burglars should begin with a list of former employees.
Dosch said she's always been willing to give potential employees "a chance", but fears that permissive policy might have come back to bite her based on her assessment of how the crime was committed.
"Whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing," Dosch, who has owned the Main Street restaurant since August 2012, said. "They knew where the cash was, they avoided the cameras. It was almost like they didn't really want to do it but were desperate."
The suspect(s) made off with a First Alert Digital safe, a laptop and cash. According to a release from the RCMP, the crime occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 24. Outside of some minor damage to the front door, there was almost no physical evidence of a break-in.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Humboldt RCMP at 306-682-2535 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
