A unique birthday celebration was held Aug. 25 near Blaine Lake. The family and friends of Mary Riben gathered at The Olive Tree near Petrofka Bridge for a meal in honour of Mary's 90th birthday.
Due to the inclement weather, the horse and wagon ride was postponed until Wednesday, when some family and friends were able to travel back to Blaine Lake to partake in the ride.
Brad Funk transported his Percheron team and democrat buggy to the community to provide rides for Mary and her family. The warm sun counteracted the windy conditions to make for an enjoyable afternoon as Mary and family reminisced about years gone by.
