On June 20, 2020, Pelican Narrows RCMP received information that a vehicle will be travelling to Pelican Narrows with a large amount of alcohol for resale within the community.
The Pelican Narrows Community Safety Officers advised the RCMP that the vehicle had gone through the CheckStop at Pelican Narrows and was currently driving through town.
Pelican Narrows RCMP located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The lone driver and registered owner, was advised she was under investigation for bootlegging and consented to have the vehicle searched. The driver stated she had a couple of cases of beer.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 32 60oz bottles of hard liquor and 164 cans of beer.
The driver has been charged with the following: Sell or offer to sell, display or keep beverage alcohol, under Sec. 138(1) of the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6 in Pelican Narrows.
