The Humboldt Broncos executive board is putting out a call to arms. With only six members, they're running the show with little manpower and a lot of willpower.

"People don't realize what it takes to run it," said Jamie Brockman, the current president of the board. "Everything that's happening we're planning and reacting to instead of pre-planning and executing."

Ideally, the board would have 12-15 members to assist with things such as budget, fundraisers, the online auction, etc. At the moment, Brockman says board members are wearing many hats and burning themselves out.

"We need people with expertise in law and finance (such as lawyers or RCMP)," said Brockman. "It's not all about hockey. From a board perspective, that's probably the smallest part."

Brockman says they don't know who's interested, so call them. They're already struggling with managing and raising funds with so many other tasks to do and so once again they will be in a loss situation this year. With a $750,000 budget, there's only so far they can stretch it before fundraising becomes necessary. If the board is overloaded with work, raising money becomes difficult.

Even if it's just as a volunteer, Brockman says they have something for everyone to do. If people are able to lighten the burden in any way, it frees up time for them to attend to other duties. A board position entails monthly meetings and the various duties incumbent on the position. More board members mean fewer duties for everyone.

"It takes the people of the community to run a community team and we don't want to get left behind in the growth of the community," said Brockman.

If anyone is interested, they are instructed to get in touch with Brockman or any board member before August 19.
