David Rogers of Lashburn was excited to learn he had won the Previous Purchaser Draw of $10,000 through BUH Foundation's $100,000 Cash Lottery Oct. 5.

"I've been buying these tickets for years," exclaimed Rogers, "because I believe the funds go to an important cause and now I'm a winner! I think supporting the foundation ensures up to date quality medical equipment is always available for my family and friends at BUH and it means not having to drive to Saskatoon to get medical treatments."

The $100,000 lottery is in it's 17th year and has sold out for the past 13 years.

"We always get a little concerned after the second draw because ticket sales decline," said Jerry Wintonyk, chair of BUH Foundation's board of directors.

"However the Early Bird draw will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19 with the ticket sale cut off date will be 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 and we are confident the community of the Battlefords and surrounding area will support local healthcare by purchasing the remaining lottery tickets

Wintonyk said the new 50/50 add on component this year has proven successful and the board and organizers are pleased with the results so far.

"I encourage everyone to purchase tickets as there is still $160,000 to be won."
