City Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk has been a busy man these days.
He has been presenting one building report after another to city council at North Battleford City Hall this year, due to an outstanding year in the commercial and industrial sectors in the city.
The two latest ones were presented Monday. The first is a four-storey condominium called Territorial Estates owned by Do-All Holdings Ltd. It is located at 2426 Buhler Ave. and will be a 22-unit condo with a ground floor parking garage and a six-bay detached parking garage on site. The size is 8,514 square feet and the overall value is estimated at $4 million.
The other project is the Gold Eagle Casino 5,000-square-foot addition, valued at $4.8 million.
The addition will accommodate a separate smoking area at the casino. The rest of the existing gaming area in the casino will be converted to a non-smoking area. Construction is already under way.
Wintonyk had mentioned the two projects a week earlier at Planning Committee when he presented the building permit report for the month of October. At that time, he told councillors he expected permit values to hit $55 million by the end of the year.
Monday Wintonyk had a different number in mind. He told council he now expects permit values to be "really close to $60 (million) before the year's out."
