Building permits continue to be on a torrid pace in the town of Battleford.
Numbers for the month of October were presented at Monday's council meeting in Battleford and reported a total of 59 permits for a value of $22,253,790 for the year, with two months to spare.
That compares to 54 permits issued for $6,060,045 for the same period in 2013, a significant increase.
Numbers for October saw five building permits issued for $1,180,000. Those include three new residential permits for $1,090,000, one renovation for $60,000 and one garage/shed for $30,000.
Those numbers compare to six permits issued for $212,200 last year.
For the year, there have been 24 new residential permits for $13,540,160, eight renovations for $316,600, nine garage/sheds for $155,500, two mobile homes for $299,530, two new commercial for $900,000, three new industrial permits for $7,022,000 and one industrial renovation for $20,000.

The numbers include two residential permits for $48,000 and two commercial permits - one for interior renovations for $4,500, while the other was for the new Co-op gas bar, car wash and convenience store at 81 Battleford Crossing for a permit value of $3,450,000.
That brings the total permits issued to over $33 million for the entire term of the current council so far. The council celebrates their two-year anniversary since being sworn in this month.
In speaking to reporters Mayor Derek Mahon welcomed the "fairly consistent" growth seen in the town this year.
People have been "investing in Battleford in levels we haven't seen before," the mayor said.
"There's been a number of big businesses that have invested big dollars, and some 24 new homes compared to 13 last year, so over the last two years there have been 37 new homes in Battleford."
The mayor hopes the growth will continue, pointing to lots for sale in Battleford Town Square and also a large tract of land developed by Kramer, Ltd. at the moment.
"They have a lot of optimism in the town of Battleford and the Battlefords," Mahon said.
