Despite a down month of August, building permit values in North Battleford are still ahead of last year’s pace for the year.
According to the statistics presented at the city’s planning committee meeting Monday night, for the year to date 85 permits have been issued for $16,691,625. That compares to 93 permits issued for $13,526,900 last year.
For August, however, permits are down from the same month a year earlier. Ten permits were issued for $702,500, compared with 13 for $1,743,500 for August 2016.
Included in the permits for this August were four commercial alteration permits for $549,000, four residential alterations for $126,500, one new garage for $25,000 and one demolition/removal for $2,000.
At the planning committee meeting Monday night, city manager Jim Puffalt noted it was a very quiet month. He also noted that some major progress has been seen at the site of the new Comfort Inn and Suites hotel on Carlton Trail, particularly with the arrival of a number of units that were constructed off site that will be part of the project.
“A number of the units of the hotel are being delivered to site, and so that will continue until they start erecting them,” said Puffalt.
