EAST CENTRAL — A new chair has been appointed for Carlton Trail College's board of directors.

As chair, Adrienne Jackson is charged with leading a body responsible for setting the strategic and financial direction of the college. The appointment was effective July 22.

Shelley Romanyszyn Cross, the college’s CEO, said she was pleased to welcome Jackson as the new chair.

“While this has been a challenging year for all of us, I’m confident that Adrienne’s leadership, along with our board’s breadth of expertise, experience and skill, will ensure that the college is in a strong position to continue providing responsive, high-quality education and training for our region.”

Jackson is a chef, entrepreneur and operator of Living Skies Catering in Wynyard. She is also an active community volunteer, and has served in many roles such as Collective Kitchen co-ordinator, Kinette Club president and minor hockey coach.

She was appointed to the board in May 2018.

“It’s a privilege to be the new chair of the board and to be working with colleagues, the CEO and the administration in carrying out the responsibilities for Carlton Trail College,” Jackson said. “I look forward to fostering a culture of collaboration and respectful change as we sharpen our governance focus in the face of COVID-19.”

Jackson’s pursuit of education has taken her to the University of Toronto, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Alberta. She is currently studying Psychology at Queen’s University and holds a Governor Development Certification from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.
