Charges laid following $2 million fraud investigation - Saskatoon

A 69-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges of criminal breach of trust, fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime following a joint investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatoon RCMP.

A 69-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges of criminal breach of trust, fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime following a joint investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatoon RCMP.

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority Securities Division began investigating the former independent financial advisor and his business in June of 2018. A subsequent investigation was conducted by detectives with the SPS Economic Crime Section and RCMP Saskatoon Provincial General Investigation Section. Police identified 24 victims; 13 from Saskatoon and 11 from areas within Saskatchewan and British Columbia. A collective loss to victims exceeds two million dollars.

Vincent John Mullee (1950-08-19) was arrested and charged on Wednesday and a search warrant was executed at a home on the 300 block of McCormack Road. 

The accused appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court Thursday morning and is expected to make a second appearance on Friday.
