Charges laid in Laverdiere homicide investigation, more expected

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North have arrested and charged a 27-year-old female in relation to the homicide investigation of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere and officers expect to make additional arrests in the coming weeks.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North have arrested and charged a 27-year-old female in relation to the homicide investigation of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere and officers expect to make additional arrests in the coming weeks.

RCMP say Shayla Orthner (1992-01-13) of North Battleford was arrested July 20 and has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

- First degree murder Sec. 235(1);

- Kidnapping Sec. 279(1.1)(b);

- Improperly interfering with a human body Sec. 182(b); and

- Theft of a motor vehicle Sec. 333.1.

Orthner is scheduled to make her first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing, as such, Saskatchewan RCMP will not be providing interviews to the media at this time.
