Ken Cheveldayoff will be at Blend on Wednesday, Sept. 6, promoting his Saskatchewan Party leadership campaign.

Cheveldayoff, MLA for Saskatoon-Willowgrove, announced on Aug. 28 his intention to run for the Sask. Party leadership race. He stepped down as Minister of Parks, Culture, and Sport. Other Sask. Party leadership candidates include Tina Beaudry-Mellor, Alanna Koch, Gordon Wyant, and Scott Moe.

Cheveldayoff grew up in Blaine Lake, and said he spent his early years in the Battlefords area.

In 1993, he ran as the federal Progressive Conservative candidate for The Battlefords-Meadow Lake, losing to Len Taylor of the NDP.

In 2003, Cheveldayoff earned 44 per cent of the vote to win the Saskatoon-Silver Springs’ riding, and earned at least 70 per cent of his riding’s vote in the 2011 and 2016 provincial elections.

Cheveldayoff said about 300 people attended the launch of his leadership campaign in Saskatoon. His campaign slogan is “Rural Roots, Urban Strong." Some policy points he introduced at the leadership announcement involved agri-business. Cheveldayoff said he’s against the carbon tax.

Blend is located at 1602-100 St. The event begins at 7:00pm. Cheveldayoff’s campaign website is www.chevyforleader.ca, with policies to be added as the campaign progresses.
