North Battleford RCMP responded to approximately 40 calls for service between 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 and 6 a.m. Thursday, June 19.
Wednesday
• Several reports were received by RCMP shortly after 6 a.m. on of a black bear seen in the area of St. Laurent Drive. The animal was located a short time later having taken shelter in a tree along Territorial Drive East near St. Laurent Drive. The bear was contained and Conservation Officers were called in to assist. The bear was successfully tranquillized and removed from the city and appears to be unharmed and in good health.
• At 7:18 a.m. there was a report of a smashed vehicle window on the 1000 block of 110 Street.
• A vehicle was reported stolen overnight when it was parked outside of a residence in Red Pheasant First Nation. The vehicle was located near Cando and had severe fire damage.
• A grey 2009 Ford F150 with a Saskatchewan license plate of LWG 622 was stolen from a residence in Red Pheasant First Nation overnight and has not yet been recovered.
• There was a report of vandalism to vehicles parked on the 1000 block of 107 Street overnight.
• There was a complaint at 5:48 p.m. that a child had been bitten by a pit bull in a yard on the 1300 block of 106 Street. Officers and Community Safety Officers attended the residence and located the child and the pit bull with its owner. The child was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the dog was placed in quarantine for 10 days pending an investigation by the City of North Battleford.
• Officers attended a residence on 15th Avenue in response to a report at 6:18 p.m. of an assault that was allegedly started after a political debate. The complainant had minor injuries and a 45-year old-woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was released with a scheduled court date of July 20.
• A vehicle struck a deer on Highway 16 west of North Battleford around 7 p.m. The driver was not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed due to substantial damage.
Thursday
• Shortly after midnight, an 18-year-old woman was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical treatment after a bystander saw her walking on 14th Avenue with a substantial slash wound to her arm. Officers located the woman, who was very intoxicated, and not co-operative with their assistance. She received medical treatment and investigation supports that the cut to her arm was accidental and involved a broken window pane.
• There was a report at 5:22 a.m. of a group of males who were trying to steal his trucks and quads from outside his residence in rural Battleford. Officers recovered a stolen truck and a stolen quad and one adult male and one male youth have been charged in relation to the incident.
There was also one person arrested for alcohol related offences, three disturbances reported, four traffic complaints and two false alarms in the noted time period.
