Clothes and blanket stolen from vacant house

Battlefords RCMP responded to 66 calls for service over the period from 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 3 to 6 a.m. Thursday, May 4, including the following:

7:52 a.m. - Police attended to a complaint of theft from a vehicle on the 300 block of 23rd Street, Battleford. The vehicle had been left unlocked overnight with the following items taken: a purse, wallet, prescription glasses. This remains under investigation.

9:45 a.m. - On the 1300 block of 108th Street a resident had solar lights taken from their yard overnight.

5:08 p.m. - Police responded to a break and enter into a vacant residence on the 900 Block of 106th Street. Clothes and a blanket were taken. This remains under investigation.

6:20 p.m. - Police responded to a complaint of theft from a vehicle on the 1500 block of 100th Street. The owner had left the vehicle unlocked and a wallet with money was stolen.

7:04 p.m. - Police responded to a complaint of theft from a vehicle the 1500 block of 107th Street. The vehicle had been left unlocked and a set of keys were stolen from the vehicle. This remains under investigation.

10:17 p.m. - Police responded to a theft from a vehicle with tools being taken from the back of a pickup truck, which was parked at a business on Highway 16. The property owner chased suspects on foot, but the suspects fled the scene in a small, white, two-door car. This remains under investigation.

RCMP would like to remind property owners to not leave valuables in their vehicles overnight and to ensure that their vehicles are locked to prevent crimes of opportunity. This would also include property outside your home including, but not limited to, bicycles, skate boards, lawn and garden tools, coolers. Warmer weather brings an increase in pedestrian traffic at all hours.
