The Saskatchewan Band Association has tapped Kelvin Colliar, superintendent of learning for the Light of Christ Catholic School Division, for an award to be presented at the upcoming Saskatchewan Music Conference.
Colliar is a recipient of this year's Outstanding Administrator Award. This award is given annually to an administrator(s) who has made an outstanding contribution to music education in Saskatchewan.
In the letter announcing the award, the Saskatchewan Band Association awards committee wrote:
"Because of your support, vision, and hard work, the students of the Light of Christ Catholic School Division now have the opportunity to have band as a part of their education. From your tireless work to find grant funding for the program to your trust in your specialist teachers, your efforts have been monumental. You were nominated by a colleague who stated: 'I don't know a greater supporter of instrumental music in our province.'"
The Saskatchewan Band Association will be recognizing its award winners at an awards banquet Friday, Nov. 14 in Saskatoon.
