Residents are invited to the intersection of Hamelin Street and Bunce Crescent in Fairview Heights on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to paint the Canada 150 logo.
There are many reasons North Battleford has partnered with Discovery Co-op to make this happen. Street art such as this has been proven to slow traffic down as motorists take in the mural. As well it is an opportunity to meet people in your area and beautifies public spaces in our community.
This event will be come and go as you please, paint as long as you like or just socialize your community. Food and water will be provided, additionally all the painting supplies have been provided courtesy of Discovery Co-op.
The Community Street Mural is the latest in a series of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) projects in the city. CPTED is a multi-disciplinary approach to deterring criminal behavior through environmental design. It is an approach that was initially developed in the 1960’s and has expanded and developed over the decades to now where it has gained wide international acceptance. North Battleford uses these methods as part of the overall Community Safety Strategy to build a stronger and safer community for everyone.
