The Humboldt and District Community Services has moved.

And Juanine Korte and fellow staff members celebrated by welcoming everyone to their new home on Main Street for guided tours.

“We needed a change and this is something that is good for us,” says Korte.

This was also a great opportunity to show the community the services they offer.

Korte says they have also introduced a new job search centre that is open to the public.

“We encourage the public if they have any job search needs to come in and use our computers for job searches, resumes, photocopy, printing. Any resources they require.”

With the state of the economy, the need for community services has gone up in the past few months.

“There’s not as many opportunities for people, more people needing to have that addition job search assistance, because there’s not as many positions available in the community or the surrounding communities.”

Korte says that she was happy to see the steady stream of traffic throughout the day and the level of care people were showing for the organization.

The new location is opening up partnering opportunities for Community Services so Korte hopes to expand on services in the future.

“We’re looking at utilizing the space more to directly support the needs of families,” says Korte.

Their space is their own, says Korte, so they are able to put on as little or as much programing as they need during the day and after hours.
