North Battleford city council unanimously approved a resolution Monday that advances an energy-efficiency proposal put forth by SaskPower.
The resolution called for a letter of intent to be signed with SaskPower in order to proceed with the implementation of an Energy Performance Contract to realize infrastructure improvement and savings at the Waste Water Treatment Plant and associated facilities."
The issue was discussed at the previous week's Planning Committee meeting, resulting in a recommendation to council.
The meeting Monday provided a further opportunity to hear directly from SaskPower official Marty Lelliott about the proposal in a presentation at the start of the council meeting.
The proposal, with a project cost of $2.7 million, is touted as potentially saving $280,000 to $330,000 annually in energy costs at the waste water treatment plant.
