North Battleford city council has officially passed a resolution that puts four properties acquired through tax-enforcement up for sale by public tender.
The sale would be conditional that offers to purchase be accompanied by suitable proposals for renovation, repair and reuse. The properties included in the tender are 831 and 861- 104th St. (the former Jesus is Alive location), 792 - 107th St. and 1112 - 101st St.
The City is holding on, for now, to the property located at 901 - 104th St. (formerly occupied by Curves) to evaluate its retention for municipal purposes.
All five locations were taken over by the City this summer by tax enforcement, due to arrears on property taxes.
The resolution passed unanimously Monday. It follows on the heels of a recommendation to that effect, passed at Municipal Services committee the week before.
The hope was expressed from City Hall that there will be interest in the properties from potential developers and investors in the properties being put up for sale.
"This is an opportunity for investors to step up and buy properties at very affordable prices and then turn them into thriving businesses or nice, newly-renovated homes," said James Risdon, City of North Battleford communications manager, in a statement released Tuesday.
