Councillor Ryan Bater made a shocking announcement at the Jan. 12 council meeting: he’s going to jail.
“I’m going to be taken into custody and placed in a cell at the Battlefords Animal Shelter,” said Bater. “I will have to raise money to get out.”
The proceeds, he said, will go towards the building fund for Battlefords Humane Society, who are looking to build a new facility. If anyone wants to help support it, Bater urged people to call him at 306-441-4410.
The news about the fundraising effort prompted Councillor Don Buglas to ask what kind of music they would play for the whole time he is in there. He suggested Who Let the Dogs Out.
