Couple facing weapons, drug trafficking charges, headed to trial

Combined, Ratt and Johnson face 34 firearms and drug trafficking offences

LA RONGE – Mary Johnson and Floyd Ratt are headed to trial in La Ronge court in November on drug trafficking and firearms-related offences.

Ratt, 34, and Johnson, 29, were arrested after La Ronge RCMP raided a trap line on Molansoa Road south of La Ronge in August 2021.

When police searched a camper they say they found three firearms, ammunition, 30 grams of cocaine, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Ratt faces 22 firearms offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime, and four counts of failing to comply with release order.

Johnson was charged with 12 weapons-related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property under than $5,000 obtained by crime, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The charges against Ratt and Johnson haven’t been tested in court.
