Some are up, some are down.
The population of Humboldt is one municipality whose population is up, according to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health Covered Population numbers.
The Covered Population 2012 report, published annually by the Ministry of Health, is a count of all persons who held Saskatchewan health coverage on June 30 of 2012.
It's not a census, since it only counts persons who are registered for provincial health coverage and not every person who may have been a resident in Saskatchewan on June 30, but it gives an indication of which communities seem to be experiencing growth, or lack of it.
All residents of Saskatchewan are included in the covered population numbers except members of the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and inmates of federal prisons. People not yet meeting the residency requirement for health coverage - they have to be here three months in order to be covered - are also not included.
Still included in the numbers, however, are Saskatchewan residents who have moved elsewhere and remained eligible for health coverage during that time. And in the case of death, people who had coverage any time in June are included.
The numbers include every person, from babies under a year old to those over 95.
The population of the City of Humboldt was one of those within this trading region to see an increase in population - from 6,526 in 2011 to 6,644 (3,290 males and 3,354 females) in 2012. That's an increase of about two per cent from last year.
That's a far cry from the nine per cent it rose between 2010 and 2011, but it's still an increase.
The age group with the largest population is the 45 to 49 group, which numbers 476. Close behind is the 50 to 54 age group with 440, and then the 25 to 29 group with 422.
And there are 23 in the region over the age of 95.
Saskatoon's population also rose from 232,780 to 236,512, according to this report.
But unlike last year, when populations of most of the municipalities in the Humboldt area noted increases in the Covered Population report, 2012's report is a mixed bag.
Eighteen municipalities other than Humboldt in this area recorded increases in population, or stayed exactly the same in 2012. However, 29 municipalities saw their populations decrease, according to this report.
Those local municipalities reported to have seen increases in population include:
