Maidstone RCMP reports a serious motor vehicle collision at the west access of Lashburn and Highway 16.
According to police, shortly after 2 P.M. Wednesday a heavy vehicle that was traveling north across the highway struck a westbound car. The truck driver was not harmed but the car's occupants -- a 37 year old woman and her passenger and a 13 year girl, both from Regina -- were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Maidstone RCMP along with Legacy Regional Protective Service and Maidstone Ambulance attended the scene.Two witnesses from Lloydminster stayed on scene and assisted until emergency personnel could arrive.
Traffic was restricted down to one lane on highway 16 for approx one hour. That has since reopened.
The driver of the heavy vehicle was a 55 year old male from St. Walburg. He is charged under the Traffic Safety Act for Driving without Due Care and Attention and is due in court July 25 in Lloydminster.
