Funeral director Trevor Watts stands next to the first ever crematorium in the Battlefords, inside Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium in North Battleford. The crematorium and accompanying processor together cost in the range of $100,000 and were brought to the Battlefords to meet the growing demand for cremation services in the community.

A discretionary land use application has been approved for a crematorium and funeral home at 2691- 98th Street, North Battleford.

The location is the former Greyhound bus terminal.

The application was made by Eternal Memories Funeral Home, to move from their current location at 2741-99th Street.

The new location is located in the M1- Light Industrial District zone, 185 meters from residential properties in Kildeer Park.

The expectation is that the crematorium will not emit odour and that smoke from the facility would be uncommon. Landowners within 75 meters radius have been notified and there were no objections submitted to council. The vote by North Battleford city councilMonday to approve the discretionary use application was unanimous.
