More than people gathered at the Speers Recreation Centre the weekend of Aug. 1-3 for a Cunningham reunion.

Family came from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Copenhagen, Sweden.

During the weekend they celebrated the 40th anniversary of Jack and Louise (Cunningham) Carr and the 85th birthday of Allan Cunningham and interred the ashes of R.D. (Bob) Cunningham at the New Ottawa Cemetery.

All enjoyed the visiting, the displays and the games, including Cunningham trivia and "the amazing race."

The highlight of the celebration was entertainment by the Prince Albert Highlander Pipes and Drums dressed in their kilts of Cunningham tartan. They played in the afternoon and piped everyone into the hall for the catered meal. They played again after the meal with the added attraction of Aspen Baliski dancing the Highland Fling.

The photo corner was busy all weekend with cameras snapping families wearing the tartan in front of an enlargement of Capington Castle.

Fireworks were also part of the very enjoyable weekend.
