Dangerous driving on Highway 4

Between 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9 and 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, Battlefords RCMP responded to approximately 55 calls for service.

Sunday, Aug. 9

• At 8 a.m. there was a complaint of a male sleeping in an apartment lobby. He was woken up by officers and directed to the Lighthouse Shelter.

• There was a complaint of a vehicle driving dangerously at high speeds on Highway 4 north of the city at 3:36 p.m. An officer located the vehicle and issued the driver a ticket.

• There was a theft from a business on 101st Street at 4:40 p.m.  Officers located the shoplifter with the stolen merchandise nearby and arrested him for theft. The 29-year-old man was held in custody and released when he was sober and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

• A house in Meota was broken into sometime between Aug. 6 and Aug. 8. There was damage to the home and several items were stolen out of it.

• Officers attended a residence on the 1600 block of 101st Street after there was a complaint of a male and female fighting at 11 p.m.  A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and was released with a scheduled court date.

Monday, Aug. 10

• There was a house fire on the 1500 block of 103rd Street reported at 12:49 a.m. North Battleford Fire Department was also dispatched to the fire. There was no one injured as a result of the fire. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

• There were complaints of slashed tires that occurred overnight on the 1200 block of 109th Street.

In addition, there was one person arrested for alcohol-related offences, seven disturbances reported, six traffic complaints, two nuisance 911 calls and four false alarms.
