'Dangerous' suspect sought by Sask. RCMP arrested in Manitoba

WINNIPEG, Man. — As a result of extensive investigation and collaboration among multiple units and RCMP detachments, Matthew Barker was arrested without incident at a business in Winnipeg, Man., around 8:30 a.m. on May 6.

Barker was wanted on warrants from the Nipawin RCMP, Tisdale RCMP, Hudson Bay RCMP and Swan River RCMP.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Enforcement Response Team-WEST was assisted in this overall investigation by Tisdale, Nipawin, Hudson Bay and Rose Valley RCMP Detachments, Manitoba RCMP Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team and Emergency Response Team and Saskatchewan conservation officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch. 

His charges include dangerous operation of a conveyance, failure to stop while being pursued by a police officer and trafficking stolen property. Background is available from the RCMP.

When they asked the public to watch out for Baker, Saskatchewan RCMP described him as someone who may be armed and was considered dangerous.

RCMP said that if any member of the public was to see him, they should contact police or call 911, but not approach him.
