Death investigation by Regina Police now deemed city’s eighth homicide

REGINA — Regina Police have determined that a death investigation that began earlier this week is a homicide case, the eighth reported in the city this year.

Police were called to a scene on the 800 block of Princess Street at approximately 5 a.m. on Thursday morning, where they located an injured adult male.

The individual, now identified as 33-year-old Jason Lee Bird of Regina, was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Ensuing investigation by the Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has now labelled the incident a homicide.

“The investigation is ongoing and there are no other details for release at this time,” said a statement from Regina Police.
