Diamonds of Detroit bring home the hardware

While it was an honour to be nominated for the 2017 Saskatchewan Camber of Commerce ABEX Awards, it was an even greater honour to win.

While it was an honour to be nominated for the 2017 Saskatchewan Camber of Commerce ABEX Awards, it was an even greater honour to win.

It was also a shock for Olivia Coffyne and the staff of Diamonds of Detroit as they took home the ABEX Marketing Award at the ceremony on Oct. 21 in Saskatoon.

“We just couldn’t believe we were finalists as it was, so it was pretty amazing. We were totally in disbelief when they called our name,” says Coffyne.

The celebration included Coffyne’s staff who represent everything the team works for, she says.

“Everyone plays their important role in making a business successful. That is what we really try and focus on in our Diamonds of Detroit family; being part of a team and working towards team oriented goals and having fun doing it.”

While the Chamber does not reveal why the finalist was chosen, Coffyne says that their community work; sponsoring events and supporting the community, says a lot about their business.

“Serving this community and giving back to local and regional  initiatives is a big focus for us. When people support businesses like ours that give back to the community it makes it possible for business to donate to the various fundraisers and clubs in the area. “

Coffyne has been on a winning streak recently, taking home both the Young Entrepreneurs and Marketing awards during the 2017 Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce Mark of Excellence awards back in March.

According to the Saskatchewan Chamber, 50 nominees were chosen from 82 nominee applications for nine different categories.

The Saskatchewan Chamber released the list of nominees on Aug. 18 saying the ABEX awards “celebrate Saskatchewan business excellence.”

“We feel privileged to have the opportunity to honour Saskatchewan business excellence, and this year we have much to celebrate,” said Chamber CEO Steve McLellan, in the release.

When it comes to Saskatchewan business, Coffyne has lots to celebrate, she says.

“Saskatchewan businesses thrive because of dedicated business owners, committed employees and loyal clients, therefore making Saskatchewan the best place to live, work, and invest.”

Diamonds of Detroit was up against heavy competition, including Humboldt’s own Spotlight Sport and Corporate Wear Ltd. as well as Gold Eagle Casino, North Prairie Developments Ltd., North Ridge Development Corporation, and WMCZ Lawyers, which makes for an awesome feeling, says Coffyne.

Many people made the win possible, says Coffyne, including the very supportive Humboldt community.
