Erratic driving results in impaired charges

Between 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28 and 6 a.m. Monday, March 2, Battlefords RCMP responded to 45 calls for service, including:

Sunday

• At 7:54 a.m. police were called to attend a residence on the 1000 block of 108th Street for a complaint of an assault. A 22-year-old male was arrested and held for court after being charged with assault and failing to comply with the conditions on his undertaking.

• Member attended a residence on the 8000 block of Panton Avenue around 10:47 a.m. for a complaint of a domestic assault. The investigation is ongoing.

• There was a report made at 5:06 p.m. regarding a vehicle driving erratically on highway 16 and the complainant said that there were beer bottles being thrown out the windows.  The suspect vehicle was located in North Battleford and the 20-year-old male driver provided a false name to police upon arrest.  He was held for court on Monday for charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, identity fraud, obstruction and failing to comply with his probation order.

• After a complaint of an intoxicated driver leaving a restaurant on Railway Avenue at 6:55 p.m., members located the vehicle and arrested the 15-year-old female driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

• A domestic assault was reported on the 200 block of 27th Street in Battleford at 8:01 p.m. Police attended at that time and the investigation is ongoing.

• Police were advised of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 16, just outside Battleford toward Lloydminster. There were three occupants in the vehicle and there were no injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Monday

• Around 4 a.m. a 15-year-old youth ran away from a youth correctional centre and now has a warrant for being unlawfully at large.

• At 7:03 p.m., members attended a business on the highway 16 bypass in response to a complaint of a sexual assault. A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexual assault and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Members also arrested six people for alcohol offences and there were 13 disturbance complaints, four false alarms, five false or nuisance 911 calls, two minor collisions, three traffic complaints and one child welfare complaint. There were two missing persons that were found within the noted time period.
