May long weekend is traditionally the official launch of summer travel in Saskatchewan. Highways typically see an increase in traffic and with that, an increase in serious collisions.

In an effort to make the weekend safer for all motorists, the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan Unit - Central Region, along with the Saskatoon Police Service’s Traffic Unit and the Corman Park Police Service are teaming up to ensure everyone gets to their destinations safely.

Additional police resources will be dedicated to traffic enforcement within the city of Saskatoon and on the highways in the Central Region over the entire long weekend. These officers will be strictly enforcing traffic laws pertaining to speed and aggressive driving, distracted driving, passing offences and alcohol related offences. Motorists can expect to see police on all highways.

In addition, police will be conducting a series of sobriety checkpoints throughout the region.

Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan - Central Region is a traffic unit of members of the RCMP and the Saskatoon Police Service working together to make our roads safer.
