A man is dead after a vehicle collision at the intersection of Highways 40 and 16 by the Western Development Museum in North Battleford.
On Tuesday at 4:40 p.m., a west-bound semi-truck lost control and crossed through the light-controlled intersection, swerved left, went through a guardrail, entered the ditch separating the west and east bound lanes of Highway 16 and entered stationary traffic in the eastbound lane . The semi collided with an SUV and both vehicles came to rest on the edge of the CN Rail tracks.
The lone adult male driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The lone adult male driver of the semi-truck was arrested at the scene.
An RCMP collision deconstructionist attended the scene to assist North Battleford RCMP and traffic was rerouted around the scene.
Shortly after midnight, North Battleford RCMP advised that vehicles involved in the collision had been removed from the scene and all lanes of traffic were again open.
