Fire at David Laird

Fire has destroyed the David Laird Campground administration building, with losses to the city estimated at $90,000. Investigators are calling the fire, which was reported at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, as suspicious.

Fire has destroyed the David Laird Campground administration building, with losses to the city estimated at $90,000.

Investigators are calling the fire, which was reported at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, as suspicious.

"If anyone was in the area, and saw anything or knows of any information regarding this fire, please contact the local RCMP or Crime Stoppers," says Deputy Fire Chief Brian Wilson. "This is a great campground facility, and the main administration building has been totally gutted by a suspicious fire."

North Battleford Fire and Emergency services firefighters found the structure completely consumed by the blaze when then arrived on the scene. Crews battled the blaze for approximately three hours, , shuttling water to the site from hydrants at the nearby Western Development Museum.

Fire crews responded with four fire apparatus and 20 firefighters. RCMP also attended for traffic control at the outset of the incident.
