A Baldwinton area man appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Wednesday morning facing a handful of firearms related charges after an incident early Tuesday morning at a rural resident in the district.

Michael Lance Ryan has been charged with discharging a firearm while being reckless, four counts of uttering threats, assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

Cut Knife RCMP also seized two firearms and ammunition and arrested another individual after receiving a complaint of shots fired inside the residence at about 2 a.m.

Charges were laid against Ryan after investigation by both Cut Knife RCMP and the North Battleford RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section.

Police say there were four people in the house and no one was injured as a result of the firearm being discharged. Alcohol was a contributing factor in this incident, the RCMP report.
