Dennis Korte was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubliee Medal by Humboldt Mayor Malcolm Eaton and Humboldt MLA Donna Harpauer at a regular meeting of city council on September 24."On behalf of the City of Humboldt, I am very honoured and pleased to congratulate Dennis Korte," said Eaton. Korte has also been a coach for numerous sports teams in the community and was inducted in the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame, as well as the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame.Eaton said the community appreciates Korte's generosity and community spirit. "It takes good leadership to make a great community," said Harpauer. Korte was honoured to receive the award. "I must say, when I got the letter I was dumbfounded and overwhelmed," said Korte at the presentation ceremony. Korte explained he could not have contributed as much as he has to the community and province if not for the wise people around him who helped. "I'm honoured, I'm humbled," said Korte.
